As the last session began, it was late afternoon on the 6th day of the 2nd Trigon of Elok’s Influence. The party had just arrived back at the Stargazer. Captain Merfiz and several of the skyship’s crew rushed out to assist with Fentra. All overwhelmed with emotion at her return. Back in the trees, the howls of wolves could be heard. Four large black wolves emerged from the trees and slowly walked toward the party. The lead wolf transformed into a moon elf and continued to walk toward the party as the other three wolves stopped.
The moon elf introduced himself as Oloran, a member of the Keepers of the Moon. Oloran asked for an update on the party’s finding in the Githyanki hideout. After hearing what the party had found, Oloran asked if the party would return to confirm that the hideout contained a portal to the Between. The party agreed to do so the next day.
At first light, the party, along with Broca, Lyda, and Fariedah, returned to the hideout. A further search of the hideout revealed a note written in Gith and that there was indeed a portal inside.
Approaching the portal caused a creature made of stone to erupt from the ground and attack. The creature proved difficult to defeat as its hardened stone body was immune to many of the party’s attacks. Despite the challenge, the party was able to defeat the creature with minimum injury to themselves.
Using Fariedah’s extensive knowledge of portals and Douglan’s memory of the portal that had appeared at Tionchar Winery, the party was convinced that there was indeed a portal to the Between in the hideout. A portal that was currently not accessible on this side.
Return to the Stargazer, the party reported their findings to Oloran, who asked that they return to Winterberry to relay the findings to Jandr in person. The party departed at once.
In Winterberry, the party told Jandr about what they had found in the Githyanki hideout. Jandr was hesitant to deal with the hideout and the portal until the Vanguard were made aware of the findings. Jandr was concerned that this hideout might be of value to the Vanguard in the fight against the Dooms and, increasingly, the Githyanki. The party agreed to relay the information to the Vanguard.
While in conversation with Jandr, the party asked for assistance in finding Dagen Skylance’s resting place, which was supposedly located just on the other side of the Midnight Depths. After showing Jandr the map they had copied from Emornar Hublecut’s book, Jandr was able to narrow down the location for them. The party departed Winterberry and headed out to find Dagen’s shield and horn.
Arriving on the northern shore of the Midnight Depths, the party opted to travel by foot to reduce the chance of being discovered by the Dark Scar orcs who called the region home. After a half day’s travel, the party arrived at an old tomb. It became immediately apparent that the “cave” mentioned in Emornar’s notes was actually a tomb. The party entered and began their search.
The tomb was a combination of a natural cave and man-made rooms. After only a short time of searching, the party came upon three zombie ogres, who attacked immediately. Despite their large size and brutal morningstar attacks, the ogres proved no match for the party and were quickly defeated.
