Appearance: Landis is Handsome to some, Short brown hair and a bit of beard growth. Hazel eyes and sun kissed cheeks he is road worn dressing in Travelers clothes with a large brimmed hat, flat topped with a leather band. Sometimes a white feather is tucked into the band other time the feather is more exotic. Landis does not look his part as a spellscribe, on passing one would see him more as a explorer or traveler from a far.
History:
Landis Von Tenebrin was born in The Kingdom of Torell
His Father (Lord Randis Von Tenebrin) was a well to do merchant with a small fleet of fishing boats. His family has wealth from his Grandfather.
His Mother ( Lady Charlotte Von Tenebrin) was a social light and spent most of her time gossiping with the lords and ladys of Torell.
Being the eldest of 3 with two younger sisters ( Elizabeth and Helene) , Landis spent much of his youth taking care of his sisters and helping his father with the family Business. Landis was very very bright for his age and did his Fathers book keeping.
When Landis was old enough ( he was 11 years old at the time) he received a letter from the Windrest school inviting him to learn at the academy, as his GrandFather was a Master at the school and wasn’t going to let his Grandsons talents be wasted as a fishing merchant’s accountant.
Landis was an excellent student and excelled at many subjects, quiet and shy he didn’t make many friends but was known around the school as the Grandson of Master Von Tenebrin. It was during his 6th year at school when Landis was 17 that the family was devastated with news that his Grandfather had left the school and joined up with the Dooms. Now this was all just rumors as the disappearance of his grandfather was never truly understood. A few members of the faculty who didn’t like Master Tenebrin for his unorthodox ideas had started the rumors but Landis couldn’t prove that they were lies and so the legend grew. As time went on and his grandfather didn’t return, Landis was picked on and bullied by members of the school and faculty making his remaining years at school very difficult. Once he had completed his training Landis was refused his diploma and his records were erased as the school feared for its reputations and didn’t want the Name of Von Tenebrin to be associated with Windrest. Upon returning home Landis was shocked to find his parents in runes, it would seem that the rumors had traveled to Torell and the Merchants Guild had driven his father out, the last few years they had barely been able to keep the ships working. The family was going to lose everything if they didn’t do something.
His Father and Mother decided to take what wealth they had left and move the family out of the family estate out of Torell, new documents were written up changing the family’s last name and a new life was started in Alagon. Landis found this to be a great betrayal towards his Grandfather who had given him
a chance to better his life through magic, Landis left his family keeping the Von Tenebrin name and hasn’t looked back. Before leaving he vowed to prove the rumors wrong and clear his family’s name, find his Grandfather and set things right.
Landis’ sisters are now married off to wealthy merchants in Alagon, and His father is doing well for himself once again. The new family name is Thorn, Something to remind the family of the hurt and disgrace brought on by Master Obadiah Von Tenebrin, Doom!
