Recap of Session 13

As the last session began, the evening was warm and humid.  The party had just departed The Armoured Duck tavern and were heading back to The Wandering Giant inn to rejoin Darrom and Diza in the pub.

During the walk back, the decision was made to head over to Windwalker Travels to see if the party could arrange travel on the Summer Wind.  The Dragonfly’s sister ship that sailed throughout The Wilds.  Unfortunately, the shop was closed for the night, so they headed back to the inn as originally planned.

At the inn, the party rejoined Darrom and Diza for a few drinks in the pub.  It was clear that Darrom had already been enjoying a few drinks.  He warned that he was expecting there was going to be a fight before he made it back to the Dragonfly for his return trip to Vargas.  He was certain that his half-brother Hulren Bloodbeard would not let him leave the city without attempting to rob him of the gems he had just acquired for sale.  After enjoying a few drinks of their own, the party retired to their rooms for the night knowing they would have a busy day ahead of them.

During the night, Lafferty dreamed that he was back in Enibis’ laboratory with the shadow creature.  The creature told Lafferty that he would serve it in the future.  A threat that chilled Lafferty to the bone.

Also, during the night, Landis received a second message from his grandfather using the book he had left Landis.  The message warned that “apocalyptic” things were coming to Emathan and that his grandfather had indeed joined the Dooms.  Not because he believed in their ideology, but to try to get their information about the rifts and the gatherings.  Information that Obadiah Von Tenebrin believed would be needed in the future.

In the morning, the party created a plan of diversion they hoped would help in getting Darrom to the skyship.  They headed out but were immediately attacked by four large thugs who had been watching the inn.  Nightingale and Diza had gone ahead as part of the plan but were brought back to the fight by Lafferty’s familiar.

As Nightingale and Diza approached the fight, Nightingale was contacted by Valormore.  An angel of Nool who was the original owner of the whip that Nightingale now owned.  Valormore offered a pact with Nightingale in exchange for special powers.  Nightingale agreed to the pact.

Nightingale and Diza’s arrival at the fight quickly gave the party the upper hand.  Despite additional thugs peppering the party with crossbow bolts from the rooftops, the remaining few thugs were soon running for their lives.  The party quickly made their way to the Dragonfly and said their goodbyes with Darrom.  Darrom warned that Hulren would not be happy and might try to take his anger out on the party.  At the party’s suggestion, Diza took a potion of Alter Self and disappeared into the crowd in hopes of avoiding any potential trouble ahead.

Since they were already at Windwalker Travels, the party decided to try to arrange travel on the Summer Wind but quickly realized that they really didn’t know where they were going.  It was clear they needed to figure that out first.  The party made their way back to The Wander Giant inn to regroup.

As noon approached, Lafferty, wearing a disguise, headed to the Twisting Nether to meet with Margrave Henfrey.  A prearranged meeting to see what books Margrave was able to find for sale.  Margrave was able to offer up two books both of which were of interest to Lafferty.  Lafferty shared his interest in finding a way to create a portable laboratory which intrigued Margrave.  Margrave informed Lafferty that he was heading to The Council of Nine at the end of the ten-day.  He promised to speak with his colleagues to see if they had any additional information that might assist in Lafferty’s research.  Lafferty also shared that they were trying to find The Keepers of the Moon.  Margrave was not familiar with them but suggested that the party meet with Qidan Duskwish at The Wanderer’s Guild house.  Margrave was quite sure that Qidan would know where to find them.
