As the session began, it was late morning on the 5th day of the 2nd Trigon of Elok’s Influence. The party, along with Fariedah, Broca, Lyda, and one member of the Hidden were standing in front of the gate discussing their next move. The decision was made to use the gate to teleport to Fariedah’s home on the surface and join the battle against the Githyanki and the Dooms.
Arriving at Fariedah’s home, the party found that the battle was over. Making their way to the old Order of the Gate tower, the party learned that two Githyanki and three Dooms had entered the tower. There was a large explosion inside, and the tower collapsed. The collapse blocked anyone from entering the caverns below to access the gate.
Leaving the tower, the party travelled to the lake to look for the Stargazer. The skyship had clearly been in a fight and showed some minor damage. Speaking with Captain Merfiz, they learned that two members of the crew were killed and many injured in an air battle against the Githyanki. Fighting back his emotions, the captain told the party that 1st Mate Fentra had been taken by the Githyanki. The last they saw of her was unconscious on the back of one of the Gith’s wyverns flying north.
The party decided to return to Winterberry to visit with Jandr so they could find the location of the Githyanki hideout. They hoped they would find Fentra there as well as gather the information that the Keepers of the Moon were looking for, including who the elven woman was.
With a rough map in hand, the party departed for the Githyanki hideout. Arriving on the shore of the Midnight Depths, the party disembarked from the skyship next to an old keep. Following the directions given to them by Jandr, the party travelled through the nearby forest to a large camp that appeared to be abandoned.
Searching the area, Broca discovered an entrance into the hillside that was hidden by an illusion. The party gathered at the entrance and proceeded inside where they were immediately met by two Githyanki and their wyvern.
Although the Githyanki seemed surprised by the party’s appearance, they quickly recovered, and a fight erupted. The party struggled against their foes with many missed swings, failed magics and general fumbles. With resources dwindling, the party was finally able to drop the last Githyanki, and the cavern hideout went silent.
The party began to search the hideout. Thankfully, 1st Mate Fentra was found locked in a small prison cell. She was in rough shape, but alive. Speaking to her about the elven woman, Fentra relayed that the woman appeared to be working with the Githyanki. The Gith referred to the woman as Jackal. She had led the interrogation against Fentra. An interrogation that was focused on understanding what the party was doing with the gate and how they were controlling it.
Still recovering from their wounds, low on resources and needing to protect the badly injured Fentra, the party decided to leave the hideout and return to the Stargazer.
