As the last session began, it was mid-morning on the 11th day of the 1st Trigon of Elok’s Influence. The party had just departed from Windkept Citadel and stood looking out across the docks. The city of Whalespell was coming alive with activity as the morning sun climbed higher into the sky. A cooler than usual breeze blew in from the north. A reminder that winter is not so far away.
The party decided that while they waited for Seer Yennall Genyra to get ready to depart, they would check in on Ferrik and Dawn Mistwalker and Alanis “Wren” Moonwatcher.
The party headed to Ferrik and Dawn Mistwalker’s apartment. Arriving, they could see that the place had been broken into and ransacked. A search revealed that there had been a fight inside at some point. In the fireplace, they found a mostly burned-up mask that looked very similar to the one that the Mistwalkers had taken from the Nightbringer Temple.
Concerned for their friends, the party headed to see Axton Embershadow at The Traveler’s Arms. Axton was not worried about the Mistwalkers, as adventurers always come and go from the guild hall. However, based on the party’s discovery, Axton promised to spread the word to see if any guild members knew anything about them.
Next, the party split up, with Nightingale and Kogaan heading to The Yawning Dog tavern while the rest headed to the Muck About tinker shop.
At The Yawning Dog, Nightingale inquired about Alanis. The barkeep said he hadn’t seen her since she left with the Tiefling sisters. He didn’t know if she was coming back. Nightingale slipped the barkeeper a silver piece, and he revealed that a friend of Alanis’ was looking after her townhouse while she was away.
At the Muck About, the party visited with Teemzaart Roywinkle. Unfortunately, the old tinkerer had nothing of interest for the party. Lafferty was disgusted with all of the unfinished projects that lay around the shop and left. With that, they headed to The Yawning Dog to meet up with the others.
With lots of time left until Seer Yennall would be ready, the party headed to Alanis’ townhouse. Nightingale knocked, and the door was opened by Lesrin Dendrum, the friend looking after Alanis’ place. Lesrin invited Nightingale in and showed him a letter from Alanis stating that she was staying longer than expected while she looked into something. Nightingale thanked Lesrin for her time and departed.
As early afternoon approached, the party travelled back to the Windkept Citadel and picked up Seer Yennall. Yennall was surprised to be travelling by skyship and delighted at how fast they would arrive in Windermere. She had been expecting to be travelling by road for many days.
During the trip to Windermere, Seer Yennall approached Kogaan. She told him she could see a powerful spirit that wanted to communicate with him. Yennall told Kogaan that she could help make the connection to allow the spirit to reach him. As she did, the spirit spoke, “Kogann Dremnaufinstrunmah (drem-haw-fin-strun-mah). You know me as Hahnuziiaak (hah-noo-zee-ahk). I have spoken to you before, and you answered my call. The call of the Yah Do Balaan. Your Yah Do Balaan carries not only the fate of my Yuvon Dov Zii (you-von-dov-zee), but that of all dovah. The Three have brought you together with the others. You must strive to understand why. The answer will help in what lies ahead. Be warned. There are great powers working both with and against you. The road ahead will not be easy.”
Upon arriving in Windermere, the Stargazer’s crew put the skyship down just a short distance from Seer Ezra Wickermoon’s home, a small berry farm outside of Windermere. Seer Ezra’s mother, Nyla, spoke with Seer Yennall telling her that Seer Ezra had gone to visit with the old hag in the nearby swamp. With the end of the day fast approaching, the party headed into the swamp to find her.
After about an hour of travel through the swamp, the party emerged into a small clearing. An old, dilapidated cabin sat on the other side of the clearing with Seer Ezra and the old hag standing out front. As soon as Seer Ezra saw Seer Yennall, she broke free from the old hag and began to run toward her.
As the party approached the cabin, three giant alligators exploded out of the water and attacked the party. The beasts inflicted heavy damage on some party members as the others fought to help them. Although the beasts had the upper hand at the start of the fight, the party battled back. As the last of the giant alligators were slain, the old hag disappeared. After a quick search of the old cabin, the party headed back to Seer Ezra’s home.
