As the last session began, Nightingale, Corvus, and Douglan had just walked Anton back to the winery. Anton excused himself to arrange dinner and the group settled in. A short time later a worker burst in stating that he saw Anton getting chased through the vineyard by masked, dark-cloaked men. The party ran as fast as they could in search of Anton and those chasing him.
The party soon found the men near the Alim vineyard and battle erupted with a strange twist. As the party attacked, a second group emerged from the vineyard and started to attack the men as well. The battle came to a head as one of the men slit Anton’s throat. Thankfully Anton was saved, and the man was subdued for questioning.
As the group questioned the man, the revelation came forth that the masked men were members of The Dooms. Most concerning was the fact that the man who slit Anton’s throat was a childhood friend; a man named Duran Whitfield. Duran’s family owns an orchard only 30 minutes from Tionchar Winery. An orchard that the Whitfield family has owned for centuries.
With the situation now calmed, the two parties began to question each other. A discussion that Anton suggested moving back to the winery as it was clear that the two groups had a common enemy that needed to be better understood. As the discussion continued, Nightingale, Corvus and Douglan came to meet Allanon, Brash, and Allanon’s panther Eranon.
The decision was made to take Duran and the one other surviving attacker to The Vanguard. A decision that Allanon and Brash struggled to understand but agreed to in the end. After a quick round trip into the City of Evendor to drop the men off, the party settled in for the night at Tionchar Winery.
The next morning as the party went about their morning routines, three armed riders approached the winery. It was Tandar, Rocco, and Brogir; three of King Xanthrum’s emissaries. They explained that Bellun had been called back to the Kingdom of Xanthrum due to growing tensions between the kingdoms of Easterly. The three still hoped to meet with King Evendor and asked for Douglan’s help. Douglan agreed, and the party headed for the City of Evendor.
During the trip, Corvus pulled Nightingale and Douglan aside. He explained that he understood that there was unfinished business to attend to in Evendor, but that he could wait no longer to get into The Wilds. He was concerned with checking on his family, searching for Pater, and trying to better understand how The Brethren were involved in his capture. Nightingale and Douglan assured Corvus that they understood his need to find answers and wished him well. As the party reached the main road, Corvus and Mithras turned north as the remainder of the party turned south. Somehow, they all felt that they would see each other again.
