Recap of Session 16

As the last session began, it was the 35th day of the 1st Trigon of Nool’s Influence at approximately 11 am.  The party had been led to a private dining room not far from the throne room where they had rescued Emdam.  Hordam and Emdan had gone to prepare for the arrival of King Dulmar.  After only a few minutes alone, a dozen dwarves entered and began to prepare the dining room for the promised meal.

Shortly after the preparations were complete, King Dulmar, Hordam, and Emdan entered the dining room.  Dulmar dismissed his guards and informed the party that lunch was to be an informal affair.  He thanked the party for what they had done and gave them the promised Elder Steel.  He told the party that they were in the clan’s favor and would be granted an audience with himself without question if they ever returned to Frostmount.

Emdam thanked the party for saving him and gave each a Potion of Heroism.  In addition, he gave Landis a Scroll of Lightning Bolt as a thank you for destroying the tome that had possessed him. He offered for Landis to return one day so that the two could discuss magic.

With lunch complete, Hordam escorted the party back to the gates of Ironhold where they parted ways.

The party returned to Winterberry and presented Jandr with the Elder Steel.  He was surprised the party had returned so quickly thinking that getting the Elder Steel would be more difficult to acquire.  The party headed off to bed with the decision to go to The Shatter Lands in the morning.

At first light, Jandr transported the party into The Shattered Lands.  A strange land made up of huge islands of rock floating above the ground below.  A result of the devastation that had occurred in the area during The God’s Anger.

After a short exploration of the rock islands, the party met Render.  One of the Forsaken that Jandr had told them lived in The Shattered Lands.  Render agreed to take the party to a Void Water pool inside of a nearby cave.

Inside the cave, the party saw a large, black water lake with lightning streaking throughout it.  Drips of Void Water appeared out of nowhere falling into the water below.  In the lake was an island with a well.  Render had warned the party that they should only take the Void Water from the well to avoid being electrocuted.  The party filled their water skins with Void Water and prepared to leave.

With a bright flash, two large Lightning Snakes appeared from the lake and attacked.  The snakes dealt heavy damage with blasts of lightning, and the party decided it would be best to retreat.  The snakes were not willing to let them go.  A third snake appeared and blocked the way out.  The battle raged on with the party finding it difficult to deal damage to these creatures without becoming damaged themselves.

With Douglan and Nightingale down and only one snake remaining, Landis shot forth a volley of magic missiles that, with the unpredictable nature of magic in The Shatter Lands, multiplied tenfold destroying the snake.  The party limped from the cave, and with Render’s help, returned to Winterberry.

Once again, the party met with Jandr and presented him with the Void Water.  After a brief discussion about how best to deal with the Banshee and get the required Witch Wood, the party headed off to their room to rest and recover.
