Recap of Session 01

As session 1 began,  the party had just arrived in <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/langdale/">Langdale</a>.  A small town on the King's Road where the road branches south toward <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/whalespell/">Whalespell</a>.  At the recommendation of Hemsin, the caravan's lead driver, they found their way to the <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/langdale/">Twin Rose Inn</a> and Tavern where the proprietors, Harmit and Tavia Hopesinger, provided them with a fantastic rabbit stew, mugs of ale, and comfortable rooms for the night.As <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/nightingale/">Nightingale</a>, <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/corvus-son-of-murtok/">Corvus</a>, and <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/douglan-mckayne/">Douglan</a> sat at their table waiting for their food and drink, Corvus noticed an elven woman seated at the bar who was watching the party with interest.  Nightingale ordered her a drink and had Tavia invite her over.  She was clearly taken back that she had been noticed but came to sit with them.The elven woman introduced herself as <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/dawn-ferrick-mistwalker/">Dawn Mistwalker</a>.  She asked for the party's help to rescue her father from an old temple where she presumed he had been taken captive by a clan of goblins who were calling it home.  She promised the party 50gp plus any treasure they found.  Her only ask was that she be able to keep a mask that her father and she had been going to look for in the temple.  It seems that finding this mask was part of Dawn and her father's initiation into an adventuring guild known as <a href="https://emathan.rolebyroll.com/campaign-wiki/wanderer-adventuring-guild/">The Wanderers</a>.After a good night's rest in a comfortable bed, the party met Dawn at first light and headed out through the forest to find the temple.  It was clear during their travels that Dawn knew how to handle herself in the forest as she had no problem finding her way back to the temple along game trails, bushwhacking, and finally along what looked to be a somewhat established trail that brought them to the temple entrance.  The trail to the temple was clearly well used but had not been used in several days.The party arrived at the temple at dusk just as a snowstorm that had been brewing throughout the day began to descend upon them.  After a quick scout of the area, they descended into the temple along a narrow staircase.  A temple that they quickly learned was dedicated to Elok with the discovery of two large statues of Elok in the first room they entered. Inside the temple, the party encountered some very unprepared goblins and a couple of their beasts.  The battles were brief with the exception of the beasts.  They have encountered little resistance so far as it would appear that the inhabitants of the temple do not expect anyone other than themselves to be there.  They continued to move deeper into the temple in search of Dawn's father and the mask that had originally brought them there.
