Recap of Session 36

As the last session began, it was late afternoon on the 32nd day of the 1st Trigon of Elok’s Influence. The party was standing outside of Fariedah’s home. Obadiah had gone back inside to say his goodbyes before he returned to Windrest. Around you, the forest surrounding Lyelion is well into Fall, and a cold breeze blowing in from the northwest reminds you that winter is not so far away.

After a short time, Fariedah opened the door and invited you back in. Obadiah was no longer there, having teleported away. Fariedah sat with you again to answer any final questions before you departed for Gnome.

Regrettably, Fariedah had little more to offer on the location of the old stronghold of the Order of the Timeless. However, she cautioned the party that this order was the early seeds of what would grow into the School of Necromancy. With no further leads, the party set off, determined to uncover the stronghold's whereabouts and recover Countersign.

The journey to Gnome was uneventful but not without purpose. The party and the crew spent time honing their defense strategies, each eager to contribute to the skyship's safety. The drills were a success, and it was evident that the crew was united in their determination to improve.

In Gnome, Captain Merfiz visited a mercenary crew that had protected the skyship many years ago. Tumble Thump, as they are known, agreed to join to help bolster the skyship’s ability to defend itself both in the air and on the ground. This greatly pleased the captain and the 1st mate as they felt the mercenaries had done an excellent job the last time they travelled on the Stargazer.

Early the next morning, the skyship departed to look for the old stronghold. It arrived on the southern shores of the Shattered Lands in the early evening. Using the little daylight left, the ship surveyed the coastline, looking for landmarks that matched the map Fariedah had provided. Just before dark, First Mate Fentra stopped the ship at the mouth of a small river that led back through the forest and into a valley. She was positive it was the river they were looking for, and the entrance would be somewhere in the valley.

At first light, the party, along with Broca Dazzlepeak and Lyda Thistlebraid, made their way up the river, which led to a tunnel that showed the symbol of the Order of the Timeless above it.

Inside, the party discovered an entrance area with a large iron door. After figuring out how to open the door, magic-wielding skeletons immediately attacked them as if guarding the entrance. This was the first of several encounters with undead creatures.

As the party continued their search for Countersign, the stronghold proved to be as old and rotten as Fariedah warned it might be. Touching anything beyond the structure itself caused it to fall to dust.
